Why this creamy broccoli and blue cheese salad is #1

    • Easy to throw together for meal prep.
    • Simple dinner side dish salad.
    • Make it ahead for game day food.
    • Packed with crunchy bacon.
    • It lasts a few days in the refrigerator.

    Ingredients

Here’s what you need to make this broccoli bacon and blue cheese salad.

Broccoli And Blue Cheese Salad Ingredients
    • Bacon
    • Broccoli florets (about 2 heads of broccoli)
    • Onion (yellow or red onion)
    • Red pepper
    • Blue cheese dressing
    • Salt and pepper
    • Sunflower seeds
    • Chives, fresh chopped
    • Blue cheese crumbles

Note: I don’t find it necessary to add any olive oil, apple cider vinegar, or lemon juice to this recipe – which you might find in other tasty broccoli salad recipes, because the blue cheese dressing comes prepared with all the right ingredients. It’s a shortcut to use pre-made dressing so you don’t need these other ingredients.

Serve it with something like this Instant Pot chicken noodle soup or smoked turkey breast.

How to make broccoli blue cheese salad

Here’s the step by step to whip it up.

    1. Preheat oven to 400 degrees F. Add bacon to a large rimmed baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Bake bacon for ~10-15 minutes in the oven, until cooked through, to desired level of crispiness. Flip bacon once in the middle of baking if desired. Once done, pat dry with paper towel and chop bacon into bite-sized pieces.
    2. Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil on the stove over high heat. Add broccoli and boil for 2 minutes. Drain broccoli immediately, and run cold water over broccoli florets to keep them from cooking.
    3. To a large bowl, add blanched broccoli, diced onion, and diced red pepper. Toss to combine.
    4. Add blue cheese dressing, salt, and pepper. Mix together to coat broccoli salad ingredients until fully coated with dressing.
    5. Top salad with sunflower seeds, chives, and blue cheese crumbles.

    Hey, I’m Jenna Passaro.

I develop easy recipes that can transform your kitchen into a restaurant – and you into a true home chef.

    Where to start?

Learn the secrets to making pizza at home. And cook amazing tri tip steak dinners.

Or, fall in love with something new to cook with your air fryer, pellet smoker, BBQ grill, sous vide cooker, and more…

You’ll notice, I kind of geek out over new cooking trends and tools!

My story. Growing up, I didn’t learn to cook.

(I was actually banned from cooking for years)

And then in my 20’s I didn’t have to cook because my job as an event planner involved a lot of travel and it was easier to eat out. At the time, I was 100% positive that restaurant food would always taste better than cooking at home, and there was nothing I could do about it.

Until I fell in love with a chef. He would come over and cook me delicious meals right in my own kitchen. My mind was blown.

Since then, I’ve been on a mission to figure out easy ways to make restaurant style food at home and share it here on Sip Bite Go.

Love to eat out and travel? I can totally relate. See my guide on where to eat in Portland, OR.

Never in a million years did I imagine I’d ditch the 9-5 lifestyle in my late 20’s, move across the country on a whim, start a new life, start a food blog, and write a book.

    But here I am!
