What it’s like to visit Utah in April
When to visit Utah can be a tricky question, but I’m going to point you towards April as an ideal time to visit Utah for several reasons…
First, the weather in April is typically mild and pleasant, making it comfortable to explore the outdoor oasis without being overwhelmed by scorching heat or bitter cold.
On a recent trip to Utah in mid-April, during the day I mostly wore long dresses with a jean jacket, or leggings with a t-shirt and hoodie for hiking during the day.
During a hike and forest meditation with Park City Yoga on Wasatch mountain I was definitely getting a bit warm!
At night I needed a light jacket, but it wasn’t freezing cold most of the time at night, unless it was a bit rainy like when I stayed at Compass Rose Lodge in Huntsville one night.
Places like the Bonneville Salt Flats did become a bit cooler at night due to the wind in the open area, but I didn’t even have a hat and I was fine in April.
Is April a good time to visit Utah to ski?
Although the snow is starting to melt this time of year, and temperatures are definitely warmer in the Spring than Winter, you can usually ski the popular mountains, like Deer Valley Mountain in Park City and Snowbasin in Ogden.
It’s called Spring skiing and though it can get a bit slushy if the temperatures really rise, it’s a unique experience to ski this type of snow!
If you don’t feel like skiing, you can still head up the mountain on a gondola ride, or grab a bite in the lodge, like I did during this past April trip to Utah.
