A great activity for families in Salt Lake City is the Natural History Museum of Utah. Here you can get up close and learn about Utah’s epic paleontology finds, check out some unique gems and minerals, and discover history and stories from ancient Utah’s Indigenous nations.

On a recent visit to the Blue Boar Restaurant, I had a delicious meal, from French onion soup, to a yummy burger, salad, and creme brulee… Can’t recommend it enough!

Eat on Historic 25th Street in Ogden, Utah
I had the honor of going on a recent press trip to explore the best that Ogden, Utah has to offer. About 45 minutes outside of Salt Lake City, Ogden’s making waves in the foodie scene. It has been nominated in USA Today’s “Best Main Street” category for 2024! So the first stop when you arrive in Ogden has to be historic 25th Street.
It is a total hidden gem packed with awesome eats like The Mercantile on 25th for delicious breakfast sandwiches.
And try the chef’s tasting dinner for a fine dining experience at Hearth on 25th…
The place is so lovely and there is so much to try…
Visit a lodge
Get the ultimate lodge vibe as a foodie traveler at a place like Bower Lodge in Eden, UT. For this restaurant, you don’t even have to hit the slopes! It’s a beautiful way to start the day when you grab brunch and a coffee with views of the Utah mountains.
Ski or snowboard at Snowbasin Resort in Ogden
Come for the skiing, or don’t! You can buy a ticket to just ride the gondola to the top of Snowbasin Resort to take in all the snowy-views. Up top of the mountain is a lodge and viewing area. Come back down to the base for delicious food and drinks at Earl’s Lodge…
Stay at a boutique hotel in Huntsville
Compass Rose Lodge is just the spot to stay for a romantic getaway, or a family trip to Utah. Located in Huntsville, it is down the street from the oldest saloon in Utah and there’s a playground across the street.
The Compass Rose Lodge has so much to offer on-site, including a star gazing activity (the hotel has its own set of professional telescopes!), a brunchy coffee shop called First Lift, and a set of teepees you can rent out for a private retreat or dinner.
This hotel is in pristine condition, and the decor is perfect for the ski town!
Take the Star Tour at Compass Rose Lodge
Even if you’re not staying at the Compass Rose Lodge, you can sign up for the Starwalk Tour at their on-site Observatory. This area of Utah is nice and dark at night, making it a prime spot to have this experience!
Visit the oldest saloon in Utah
It’s cash-only, and also lined with cash all over the ceiling! If you’re in the Huntsville area, don’t miss the locals-vibe atmosphere that is Shooting Star Saloon!
Bryce Canyon National Park

Drive Mirror Lake Highway
This place is like Instagram heaven with picturesque lakes and mountain backdrops. Less than two hours from Salt Lake City, Mirror Lake Highway is a stunning 42-mile drive along Route 150. The peak is Bald Mountain Pass at 10,715 feet above sea level.
Along the journey, you’ll pass Hayden Peak, Kletting Peak, and Holiday Park Peak. There is plenty to see and campgrounds to enjoy along the way.
Visit Red Butte Garden in Salt Lake City
They call this “100 acres of therapy”! You can wander around Red Butte Garden in Salt Lake City for about 2-3 hours to enjoy everything that the largest botanical garden in Utah has to showcase! Elevation is about 5,000.
Seven Peaks Waterpark
Take a leisurely float down the lazy river at Seven Peaks Waterpark in Provo, Utah. It’s a 26-acre park that is perfect for cooling off on a hot summer day. Enjoy a variety of water activities from waterslides to a wave pool and lazy river.

Tour Ritual Chocolate in Utah
Ritual Chocolate in Utah offers a behind-the-scenes tour at their beautiful Chocolate Factory in Heber City, UT. Attached to the tour is a store and tasting room, where you can try and buy Pink Elephant Coffee Roasters beans as well.

Visit Temple Square in SLC
Visit the historic Temple Square in Salt Lake City, home to the striking Salt Lake Temple and beautifully landscaped gardens. In this area of downtown, you’ll find 5 city blocks of historic sites, religious buildings, and exhibits.
Stay at the Grand America Hotel in Salt Lake City
Made popular by the Olympics, the Grand America hotel is very upscale, although you can stay at the less-pricey sister hotel, the Little America hotel across the street.
Go bobsledding at the Olympic park
If you’re feeling adventurous, head out to the Olympics site about 45 minutes outside of SLC and try bobsledding!
