Detailed recipe steps
- Make marinade for sirloin. Mix all the marinade ingredients together in a large bowl. Add raw sirloin steak to the bowl and marinate for 30 minutes to a few hours, chilled in the fridge.
- Preheat grill to high, about 500 degrees F. Add an internal read thermometer to the steak if desired.
- Add sirloin steak to hot grill grates. Once the grill is hot, add sirloin steak to the grates on high heat, and close the lid.
- Grill sirloin for about 7-8 minutes on the first side, until it easily releases from the grill and has formed grill marks. (The grilled sirloin in the Sip Bite Go recipe demonstration was flipped when the internal temp measured about 80 degrees.)
- Flip sirloin steak and close the lid again. Grill steaks until cooked to your desired level of doneness. (It took about 5-7 minutes for the Sip Bite Go demonstration steak to reach 120 degrees F internal temperature, which is when it was pulled off the grill for a rare to medium-rare doneness level after resting).
- Rest grilled sirloin for 10-15 minutes before slicing and serving.

Meat thermometer recommendations
Every home chef needs a reliable meat thermometer to cook food perfectly.
On Sip Bite Go, you’ll often see me using:
- Meater thermometer – a fancy wireless thermometer that connects to a phone app – gifted to me from a Traeger partnership.
- ThermoPro digital thermometer – which has a wire that connects the thermometer to a display box outside the oven/grill.
It’s like being psychic! The great thing about either of the thermometers above is that I don’t have to take the food out of the oven to know the temperature.
How to use ‘em… What I do is stick the digital thermometer in steak, pork, chicken, whatever… Then put the food in the oven, on the smoker, or grill.
While the meat cooks, it reads the temperature so I know exactly what temp meat is as it’s cooking. Without having to take it out and check. It’s really difficult to overcook food when you know exactly what temp it is inside!
