What this food and history tour is like
On the walking tour that is The Spoon Experience San Juan, you will…
Stroll the beautiful blue cobblestone streets of Old San Juan…
Try Puerto Rican cuisine like MOFONGO (mashed plantains served savory with chicken / seafood / steak) – like the one at Rincon Iberico above.
Get to chat with a local about what it’s like to live in San Juan.
We loved our tour guide MICO!
Timing
Have a wonderful time on your walking tour – ours began in the late afternoon and ended after dark – it’s about a 3-hour food and walking tour.
This tour is a great way to take in the colonial city, and I recommend attending it during the beginning of your trip – it really gave me a gauge on what food I liked and wanted to enjoy more during my trip to San Juan.
And then I was able to return to my favorite food spots in San Juan…
After the initial trip with this food tour group, I was happy to return to restaurants like the beautiful plant-filled atrium at Hotel el Convento (above).
It’s an old convent that is now a hotel, bar, and restaurant.
And have another amazing Cuban sandwich at a brewery we visited called La Taberna Lúpulo (above).
Above is a photo from inside Casa Luna restaurant – there we tried the carne guisada and pina colada and tres leches cake for dessert. I wish I went back there!
And the tour guide recommended a few other restaurants to tour in San Juan, that they apparently rotate on different days…
Which is how we discovered the wonderfully eclectic and rustic Deaverdura.
I love it there!
What’s included
On my particular tour, we visited a handful of GREAT restaurants.
