This kids playground in San Juan is also called “Parque Infantil del Niño” and “Child’s Playground”.
I think it takes a couple of family trips until you get into a flow of what you need to make it successful.
What I’ve found is that we have a really active family…
Whereas my husband and I traveling alone could be happy walking around a city like San Juan and ducking into bars, restaurants, art museums and shops for hours…
When we travel as a family, we do a lot more physical activities – which is great.
Because it keeps me working out in between trips, because my husband and son can workout for hours, for fun.
So when I’m in the planning stages of a trip, I always look for some sort of outdoor activity, something athletic, something that’s gonna burn off a lot of energy at the beginning of the day.
For this reason, we were so happy to find this park in San Juan called Parque Del Nino.
It’s surrounded by hundreds-of-years-old historical buildings and beautiful gardens.
It is a beautiful modern park, with both new and old playground activities for my kiddo…
But it was a photographer’s dream for me, since it is set in this really historic area of old San Juan, Puerto Rico.
Tropifit Exercise Area in San Juan
Right next to Parque Del Nino is another park for older kids and adults…
It’s called Tropifit and it’s more like an outdoor gym / exercise playground.
I’ve seen these types of outdoor gyms when we lived in San Francisco and quite a few times when I traveled to China and Hong Kong.
Outside of the park is an area that has a few more activities.
First, it’s close to the San Juan cruise terminal, so that’s convenient.
There are restaurants to visit right outside the play area…
I highly recommend eating at Princesa Gastrobar if you want some historical Puerto Rican cuisine.
Or walk a few blocks to Triana Tapas & Flamenco for some croquettes in a fun and lively atmosphere.
And there is an open air market outside with street vendors and food options – check their site for schedule details.
