Restaurants in Hotel el Convento
- Alegría Patio Bar
- Patio Del Níspero Restaurant (atrium foodie spot pictured in this review)
- Santisimo (another restaurant on the second floor of Hotel el Convento)
The food and drinks here have Puerto Rican flavors with modern-day chef enhancements…
Food to try from the dinner menu
They serve breakfast, lunch and dinner – and I hope to add to this review with more photos in the future.
The cocktail you saw above is some type of watermelon mojito or margarita. It was a special, and made with fresh fruit. Very refreshing!
Above is a look at the patatas bravas – they had some heat!
And above here you see an appetizer of mahi mahi ceviche.

Hotel el Convento’s restaurant location
If you’re not staying on property at Hotel el Convento, you can still visit this signature restaurant in San Juan, Puerto Rico.
On a recent visit, I stayed at Caribe Hilton – it takes about a 10-15 minute Uber to get to this restaurant from that Hilton.
The restaurant is nestled inside the atrium at the center of the hotel…
It’s a beautiful hotel to walk through…
I loved the guest lobby / check in room…
And the flooring and plants…
And really the entire ambiance.
Nearby Plaza de la Catedral
Across from Hotel el Convento is an area of Old Town San Juan, not too far from the cruise terminal, where you can enjoy some shade under a big and beautiful tree.
This area has a cathedral nearby, too (Catedral de San Juan Batista)…
It’s a place to walk through for photos during the day.
