Is Caribe Hilton all inclusive?
No, the Caribe Hilton San Juan is not an all inclusive resort, but you’ll find out in this guide that there are plenty of things to do and amenities included in your stay.
As a Hilton Honors member, I did get free breakfast with my stay.
Reviews of Caribe Hilton resort for family vacations in PR
Here are my family’s reviews of the Caribe Hilton resort…
Husband’s review
Particularly loves the beach access the most… the water is beautiful and he spent hours swimming, finding rocks, and checking out fish.
You can join a snorkeling tour group or go on your own.
He would go out for an hour at a time, swimming in the Caribe beach area with his goggles.
He also liked the views from the Caribar – the bar inside the Caribe hotel lobby.
Kiddo’s review (young kid, preschool years)
Enjoyed trying new activities every day and was really excited about the iguanas and swans in the pond…
Also couldn’t pass the ice cream shop without getting a treat and loved checking out the birds in the lobby.
And he loved the like-new resort playground by the beach and badminton courts.
My review as a travel blogger and foodie
I love all the above…
Plus my Caribe Hilton review points out how great it is to have close access to downtown Old San Juan because I’m a foodie and love art and history, too.
And if I ever take a Disney Cruise out of San Juan, I’ll definitely look into staying here, too – we saw shuttles leave from the lobby on our last day and I wanted to go with them!
Planning a trip to Caribe Hilton resort
There is plenty to do on property of Caribe for families.
Outside of that, you should definitely take advantage of the location and things to do in Old San Juan and other destinations nearby.
In advance, I booked a few excursion tours, like a rainforest tour, walking food tour, and a Bacardi tour nearby…
But other than that, we relied on the resort to provide fun family activities and some of our food.
Video review of amenities at Caribe Hilton in San Juan
The Caribe Hilton hotel offers luxury resort amenities at pretty reasonable room prices, including beach access, fitness centers, multiple restaurants, and lounge areas.
To say we are pleased with the family friendly amenities at the Hilton Caribe resort would be an understatement!
See this video of many of the amenities this Caribbean hotel has to offer…
At the Caribe Hilton in Puerto Rico, you can find add-on services like spa treatments and massages, too.
I’ll share more of our favorite amenities with photos below, but here are some things to do at the Hilton Caribe resort…
- Play tennis at the Monica Puig Tennis Courts at Caribe Hilton.
- Book a spa appointment at Zen Spa Océano.
- Book a water activity through Aqua Adventure.
- Rent out a pool cabana at the Oceanfront Pool Complex.
- Relax at the hammock garden.
- Do yoga on the beach.
- Rent water sports.
Tour our Caribe Hilton family suite (video below)
We booked a 1 bedroom family suite at the Caribe Hilton.
It was nice and spacious, with two balconies and a pull out couch in the living room…
Check out our Caribe resort room tour and review below…
It is indeed a very spacious room!
Detailed review of suite rooms at Caribe Hilton Puerto Rico
Sometimes I get nervous booking new destinations…
Because on other (trips like when we last went to Maui) we have had ants in the room, and even a salamander running loose (he crawled right in, under our hotel door!)
So for tropical places, I have almost come to expect a bug or something undesirable to pop in the room…
Luckily, that was NOT the case at the beautiful Caribe hotel!
Onsite dining and restaurants at Caribe Hilton
This resort is loaded with food options to enjoy during your San Juan trip…
The on-site dining at restaurants at the Caribe hotel includes:
- Starbucks
- Ice cream shop
- Breakfast buffet (included if you’re a certain level of Hilton guest)
- Rustica Ristorante (a sit-down Italian restaurant in the lobby)
- Morton’s Steakhouse (which was great for evenings when we were tired and hungry – we just ordered food online and picked it up).
- Bars both in the lobby and in the pool!
We ate dinner at Caribe Hilton quite a few times during our trip from Morton’s Steakhouse.
Caribe Hilton breakfast buffet photos
As mentioned, we had breakfast included at the Caribe Hilton resort due to our Hilton Honors status.
This included the breakfast buffet with the standard breakfast pastry, cereal, and some other foods available at most hotel concierge restaurants.
Quite honestly, I wasn’t that interested in the food as it was pretty standard, but we did find an interesting fact about it…
Which is that kids eat free at the Nectar del Caribe breakfast restaurant.
So while the adults get free continental breakfast, which includes a specific section of basic items…
Kids under 12 can eat BOTH breakfast areas, including the “upgrade” brunch foods which include things like bacon.
I did get an omelet made fresh – that was an up-charge – one day, and it was fine, but for the price, I’d probably eat something local and offsite for my next stay.
Rustica restaurant at Caribe Hilton
For Italian food, check out this restaurant on site at the Caribe…
The Rustica Ristorante Caribe Hilton menu is packed with pasta dishes, chicken, sea food, and other Italian comfort foods.
There’s a bar inside the restaurant, too.
Ice Cream & Cookie Co.
This is like the food convenience store of the hotel.
You’ll pass it often as you head to your guest room from the lobby…
Which is great for the kids in your group!
Here you’ll find a variety of by-the-scoop ice creams, David’s gourmet cookies, acai bowls, fruit smoothies and acai bowls, drinks you can take back to the room, coffee and to-go sandwiches.
Another foodie reason to love staying at the Caribe Hilton
Rumor has it, this Hilton hotel in Puerto Rico is where the pina colada was invented!
While the hotel is beautiful and updated, I love that it’s “old” and has that history.
Convenience of the location of the Caribe Hilton
The location of this Puerto Rico resort is incredible.
Bring up a map of San Juan and see how close this is to the downtown area…
It’s about $10 or less to take the 10 minute drive from Caribe Hilton to downtown Historic Old San Juan, where you can enjoy many foodie restaurants, shopping, and playgrounds for kids.
Check out this historical tour you can take of San Felipe Del Morro Castle…
Plus, it’s close to other things like the T Mobile District, which has one of our favorite arcades (see more on that below).
Review of pools at Caribe Hilton
There is an entire pool complex to explore when staying at the Caribe Hilton.
Here are some of the pool amenities that we loved at this San Juan Hilton location:
- Swim-up-pool-bar
- Infinity pool
- Additional pools with views of the ocean
- Kids’ fountain pool
- Hot tubs / whirlpools
- Plus, you can relax in your own pool cabana for the day.
I mean, the Caribe resort had me drooling, looking at photos of the pool amenities online, especially the swim-up-pool-bar…
Review of beach access at Caribe Hilton
This property has beautiful pools but confident swimmers can also enjoy the soft sand which leads to a somewhat-secluded beach area.
The ocean has a dock which my family calls “the mattress” and if you’re into snorkeling, you can do that too.
Tropical gardens on site
We loved the peaceful tropical garden area at the Caribe resort.
Kids playground at Caribe Hilton
When planning this trip, I was very pleased to learn there is a playground on site!
It’s so helpful to burn some energy.
And this wasn’t any-old playground – it had a variety of slides and climbing walls for kiddos to challenge themselves.
The playground is next to a volleyball court, close to the beach, and has a grassy area near it too…
Check out a video of the Caribe Hilton playground…
We love it here!
Great departure spot for local tours and San Juan art
There is plenty to enjoy on a day trip from the Caribe Hilton (see this review of my time at the Luquillo Beach from my recent visit).
Another thing to enjoy as part of a tour is the stories of art history and evolution of Puerto Rican murals…
Check out the murals of Santurce during your San Juan trip…
