Ingredients for making pizza with frozen dough
First, you need frozen grocery store pizza dough.
In this post, I use Trader Joeโs pizza crust. The particular brand is Monteli frozen pizza crust and it comes in packs of two. Use this guide for frozen crust from Whole Foods or any other grocery store.

Other ingredients to make pizza with frozen pizza crust

- Salt and dried herbs (Italian blend, oregano, basil, parsley, etc.)
- Pizza sauce
- Cheese
- Toppings (optional)
- fresh parmesan cheese
- Fresh basil leaves
How to make pizza with frozen premade pizza crust
Step 1. Preheat the oven according to frozen premade pizza crust directions.
Take out a large baking sheet that will fit the frozen pizza crust.
Brush half the olive oil on the bottom of the frozen crust. This step will turn the pizza crust golden when itโs in the oven.
Then brush olive oil around the edges of the frozen dough, about 1โ wide.
Add a sprinkle of salt around the edges.
Why add olive oil to frozen pizza dough?
Frozen pizza crust is very dry when itโs taken out of the freezer. You need to add a little olive oil to help the crust brown and add some taste.
Step 2. Add dried herbs to the top of the frozen pizza dough.
Add pizza sauce on top of the dried herbs then smooth out the sauce with the back of a spoon.
Add a layer of mozzarella cheese. Add toppings. Top with a sprinkle of parmesan cheese.
Step 3. Bake pizza for the minimum amount of time indicated on the package.
When is frozen pizza crust done cooking?
When the timer is up, check on the pizza. The cheese on top should be bubbling when itโs done and the bottom of the crust should be golden brown.
Once done, let pizza cool and add any other topping and fresh herbs.
What if the frozen pizza crust isnโt browning?
Pop the pizza back in the oven for 1-2 minutes at a time until the pizza looks just right.
Final tips for using frozen crust
- Cheese – Shredded mozzarella is a classic choice for pizza. Fontina and cheddar are great options, too.
- Toppings – Favorites in my house: pepperoni pizza, chorizo, diced ham, sous vide chicken, pineapple, caramelized red onions, garlic sauteed mushrooms
- Basil – Fresh basil is my favorite finishing touch for a homemade pizza.
Pizza isn’t the only thing I love to cook from frozen. When we have busy nights, I like to know it will be easy to get dinner on the table. Thatโs where sous vide chicken from frozen and sous vide frozen steak comes in. The food goes directly from the freezer to the sous vide water without needing to thaw first.

I followed the video directions and it came out perfectly and the olive oil to the bottom of the base and the rim worked a treat, as by the time the mozzarella had melted they had both browned up nicely. The only thing I did differently was to let the base soften to room temperature. I pre heated the oven also.
