Learn exactly how long to cook burger sliders in this stovetop recipe that’s finished in the oven for PERFECTLY juicy burgers, each and every time. This sliders recipe is a weeknight and game day food favorite for a crowd.

    How long to cook sliders

Cooking sliders is super fast (they’re ready in about 10 minutes)…

    How long to cook sliders

The sliders cooking time for this recipe on the stove is about 6-8 minutes.

Final cooking time for sliders will depend on whether or not you finish them in the oven (which I recommend).

Either way, this is a very fast and easy slider recipe. See it below.

Why these sliders are so good

    • This method for stovetop cooking sliders with an in-oven finish makes VERY JUICY and never-dry mini burgers.
    • Under 10 minutes to cook ‘em up.
    • Just a few ingredients.
    • Great game day recipe for a crowd.

New to cooking stovetop sliders? See my step by step video for beginners (scroll to bottom of page).

    Ingredients

Here’s what you need to make sliders on the stove / in the oven.

Cooking burger sliders with cheese on the stove

    Slider ingredients

    • 1 lbs ground beef (wagyu or 80/20 blend)
    • ½ tsp salt
    • ½ tsp pepper

    For cooking and serving sliders

    • 1 tbsp avocado oil (substitute olive oil or butter)
    • 2 oz cheddar cheese
    • 4 slider buns
    • condiments as desired

How to make burger slider patties

    1. Prep burger slider meat. Add ground beef to a large bowl and gently break up the meat with your hands or a spoon. Add salt and pepper and gently mix together all ingredients.
    2. Separate the burger meat into 4 to 6 slider patties (they’ll be about 3 or 4-ounces each). To shape them: form each one into a large meatball, then flatten the burgers to about 1.5-2” disc shapes. If desired, push down the center of the burgers, which might help them stay on the bun better, although these are great for serving with toothpicks.
    3. Store slider patties in the refrigerator until 5-10 minutes before cooking them.

Cast iron cooking sliders on the stovetop with oven finish

    1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
    2. Preheat cast iron skillet on the stove to high heat. Add oil.
    3. Once oil is hot, add sliders to the skillet.
    4. Sear sliders in the hot pan for about 45 seconds to 1 minute on each side, until they are just browned on the outside. NOTE: While you can cast iron sear sliders until done, I recommend finishing them in the oven so they cook more evenly throughout. If you’re going to cast iron sear them, keep flipping until they are done, so the outside doesn’t burn.
    5. Add cheese to sliders. You want the cheese on the sliders before they go in the oven, so the cheese melts.
    6. Transfer sliders to the oven and bake for 1-3 minutes, until the desired internal temperature is reached. For medium-done sliders, cook them until the inside reads about 145 degrees F as measured with an internal read thermometer.
    7. Finish and serve in slider buns with your favorite burger condiments.

    Meat thermometer recommendations

Every home chef needs a reliable meat thermometer to cook food perfectly.

On Sip Bite Go, you’ll often see me using:

    1. Meater thermometer – a fancy wireless thermometer that connects to a phone app – gifted to me from a Traeger partnership.
    2. ThermoPro digital thermometer – which has a wire that connects the thermometer to a display box outside the oven/grill.

It’s like being psychic! The great thing about either of the thermometers above is that I don’t have to take the food out of the oven to know the temperature.

How to use ‘em… What I do is stick the digital thermometer in steak, pork, chicken, whatever… Then put the food in the oven, on the smoker, or grill.

While the meat cooks, it reads the temperature so I know exactly what temp meat is as it’s cooking. Without having to take it out and check. It’s really difficult to overcook food when you know exactly what temp it is inside!

    FAQs

What buns are best for hamburger sliders?

I recommend using either Hawaiian rolls or dinner rolls for burger sliders. If you’re up for it, make your own buns and sprinkle with sesame seeds and melted butter to finish.

How to make a burger slider?

Prepare seasoned ground beef and form your burger patties. Sear the burger patties on each side in a cast iron skillet on high. Top with cheese and finish in a preheated 350 degree F oven until the cheese is melted. Place individual sliders onto slider buns and enjoy.

    Hey, I’m Jenna Passaro.

I develop easy recipes that can transform your kitchen into a restaurant – and you into a true home chef.

    Where to start?

Learn the secrets to smoking tasty Traeger recipes and making pizza at home. And cook amazing tri tip steak dinners.

Or, fall in love with something new to cook with your air fryer, pellet smoker, BBQ grill, sous vide cooker, and more…

You’ll notice, I kind of geek out over new cooking trends and tools!

    Instagram me @sipbitego & chef hubs @handmodelpatrick

My story. Growing up, I didn’t learn to cook.

(I was actually banned from cooking for years)

And then in my 20’s I didn’t have to cook because my job as an event planner involved a lot of travel and it was easier to eat out. At the time, I was 100% positive that restaurant food would always taste better than cooking at home, and there was nothing I could do about it.

Until I fell in love with a chef. He would come over and cook me delicious meals right in my own kitchen. My mind was blown.

Since then, I’ve been on a mission to figure out easy ways to make restaurant style food at home and share it here on Sip Bite Go.

Love to eat out and travel? I can totally relate. See my guide on where to eat in Portland, OR.

Never in a million years did I imagine I’d ditch the 9-5 lifestyle in my late 20’s, move across the country on a whim, start a new life, start a food blog, and write a book.

    But here I am!
