Here’s what you need to make this chocolate yeast loaf…

    • ½ cup water, warmed at 110 – 120 degrees F
    • 2 tbsp butter, melted
    • 2 tbsp sugar (you could make it 3 tbsp for a sweeter bread)

    • ½ cup white chocolate chips (optional)

    Detailed recipe

Baking Chocolate Yeast Bread In The Oven In A Loaf Pan
    1. Add the milk and water to a bowl and heat until lukewarm at 110 – 120 degrees F.
    2. Add the melted butter, sugar, and yeast to the liquid and stir to combine. Set aside for 10 minutes to become active. The liquid should start to bubble up.
    3. In a large separate bowl combine the flour, cocoa powder, salt, and white chocolate chips (optional). Stir until combined thoroughly.
    4. Pour your yeast liquid into the dry ingredients and mix with a spatula for ~5 minutes until combined. You should have a loose wet dough ball at this stage.
    5. Cover the bowl with a damp towel for 2 hours until the bread dough doubles in size.
    6. Degas the bread dough by punching it. Remove the bread dough from the bowl and place onto a floured work surface.
    7. Sprinkle some extra flour on top of the bread dough and begin to knead the dough using the slap and fold method. If the bread dough is still very wet, sprinkle some additional flour and knead well until the flour is incorporated. (use your judgment here. Too much flour and the bread dough will become too dense).
    8. After kneading the bread dough into a ball, form it into a loaf shape big enough to fit your bread loaf pan size. Butter a bread loaf pan and place the bread loaf into the pan. Cover with a damp towel for 90 minutes to rise again.
    9. After 90 minutes, place the bread into a preheated 350 degree F oven and bake for 35 – 40 minutes until done.
    10. Remove the chocolate bread loaf from the bread pan and place on a wired rack to cool for at least one hour.
    11. Slice and enjoy however you’d like. May I recommend making a cinnamon infused butter spread or a dessert french toast.
