Tools to help with sous vide cooking
- A big sous vide bucket to hold the water “sous vide bath” that the food cooks inside.
- Vacuum sealer and bags or plastic gallon bags to cook food.
- A sous vide machine like the Anova, Joule, Instant Pot Slim
- A big sous vide bucket or stock pot to hold the water the food cooks in
- Egg bites and desserts need small mason jars to cook in and the kind that does *not* curve (like this particular mason jar) – is my favorite because it makes it easier for the egg bites to pop out.
- Metal tongs to take remove food from the sous vide bath.

For those who were wondering, Sous Vide is a French term that means “under vacuum. ” Basically, it is the process of vacuum-sealing any food you wish in a bag, and cooking it to a very precise temperature in a water bath. The method cooks the food evenly while retaining the flavors. The cookbooks offer a variety of recipes to try.

I have not heard anything about sous vide cooking so this is very interesting. I am not sure I would be very good at it as I am not much of a planner and I think you would have to really think about meals ahead of time. It sounds like it would be delicious though.

If I ever get lucky enough to be able to do this type of cooking the first one I would have to get is the America’s Test Kitchen one. I am a huge fan of the show and already own one of their cookbooks. When looking for a new recipe, it is the one that I refer to most often.
