This bacon wrapped asparagus recipe is easy to cook in the oven. Today I’m going to show you how baking, then quickly broiling the bacon wrapped asparagus makes it super crispy, everytime. If you’re looking for a gourmet but simple side dish or appetizer, this is it! | sipbitego.com
Line a rimmed cookie sheet with parchment paper. Add a baking rack on top. Brush or spray rack with olive oil if desired to keep bacon from sticking.
Wash and pat dry asparagus. Trim off the woody ends that are not bright green. Drizzle asparagus with olive oil and sprinkle with the seasonings (salt, pepper, garlic powder). Toss together to season asparagus.
Cut the bacon lengthwise to make thin slices. Starting at the bottom of the asparagus stalk, wrap the bacon. I like to get a solid start and use the bacon fat to help the bacon stick to itself, then roll the bacon strips around the asparagus, overlapping slightly, on a diagonal until the piece of bacon reaches the top. I leave a little piece of asparagus poking out of the top.
Line all bacon wrapped asparagus stalks on the wire rack on the cookie sheet.
Bake bacon wrapped asparagus in the oven for 12 minutes. Flip and bake for 5-10 minutes more. I like the bacon to be 99% done to my liking at this point, which means I get it pretty crisp. You want it pretty much done before broiling.
Broil on high for about 2 minutes to give it a final crisp texture.
