Wondering exactly how do you cook pre-cooked ham in the oven? You’re in the right spot. Today, I’m sharing how to cook the best honey glazed ham nugget ever. This is a super easy and classic holiday ham dish. Let’s make it.
Preheat oven to 325 degrees F. Add ham nugget to a rimmed baking dish with water (this will help steam the ham and keep it juicy).
Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil and heat ham nugget for about 8 minutes per pound. Ham is reheated and ready for the next step when the internal temperature reaches 140 degrees F as measured by an internal meat thermometer. You can make the ham nugget glaze while it bakes.
How to make honey glaze for ham nugget
Add all ingredients (butter, brown sugar, maple syrup, cinnamon, salt, water) to a small saucepan on the stove.
Turn the burner to medium and stir regularly until all ingredients mix together and begin to simmer, about 2-3 minutes. When the honey glaze starts to bubble, remove it from the heat so it stops cooking.
How to cook ham nugget with honey glaze
Preheat oven broiler to high. Line a large rimmed baking sheet with parchment paper (if desired - just make sure to watch the ham once it’s broiling so the paper doesn’t get too smokey or catch fire - it’s never happened to me, just a warning!).
Cut the baked ham in half (you can leave it whole, but there’s more surface area for the glaze to coat the ham if you cut it in half once it cools 5-10 minutes).
Use a spoon and / or basting brush to brush the glaze on all sides of the ham. Broil ham nugget with glaze on top for 3-5 minutes in the oven, until it’s bubbly and a bit caramelized. Let cool and enjoy.
