Ingredients
  • 28 ounces tomatoes crushed, San Marzano
  • 1 tbsp garlic diced
  • 1/2 medium yellow onion diced
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1/2 tsp oregano dried
  • 1/2 tsp parsley dried
  • 1/4 tsp red pepper flakes
  • 1 bay leaf optional
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 tbsp fresh basil chopped (optional)
Instructions
  1. In a large and deep saucepan on medium heat, combine the crushed tomatoes, garlic, onion, olive oil, oregano, parsley and red pepper flakes. Stir together.
  2. Once the sauce begins to boil, turn the heat down to medium-low. Stir every few minutes while the sauce simmers without a lid for 30 minutes.
  3. Once the sauce is done, turn off heat, remove bay leaf, and add salt and pepper if desired. Add fresh basil and cover the sauce with a lid until serving.
