Why a grease bucket / catcher is necessary…
- Using a grease bucket will keep your cooking station sanitary.
- Makes clean-up easy.
- Keeps grease from landing on the floor that your Flatrock sits on.

Where does the grease bucket go?
On the Traeger Flatrock, you’ll place the aluminum grease bucket into the grease catcher which has a handle attached.
These grease pans / grease holders for the griddle are aluminum.
These particular ones are Traeger flatrock specific grease pans, which are LARGER than the Traeger smoker grease buckets.
The flat top surface has a rectangle hole cut into so the grease can drain.
Place the grease catcher underneath that hole.
There are slides built into the bottom of the Flatrock so the catcher slides right in.
FAQs
During the cooking process, you’ll want to push the grease down the hole into the grease bucket using the griddle scraper. After you are done cooking, pull out the grease bucket and allow the grease to cool either at room temperature or in the fridge. Once the grease has cooled, you can place it in a sealable container or bag and dispose.
Yes, a grease bucket is included. You will receive one aluminum insert, but no backups. It’s recommended that you order aluminum backups.

Meat thermometer recommendations
Every home chef needs a reliable meat thermometer to cook food perfectly.
On Sip Bite Go, you’ll often see me using:
- Meater thermometer – a fancy wireless thermometer that connects to a phone app – gifted to me from a Traeger partnership.
- ThermoPro digital thermometer – which has a wire that connects the thermometer to a display box outside the oven/grill.
It’s like being psychic! The great thing about either of the thermometers above is that I don’t have to take the food out of the oven to know the temperature.
How to use ‘em… What I do is stick the digital thermometer in steak, pork, chicken, whatever… Then put the food in the oven, on the smoker, or grill.
While the meat cooks, it reads the temperature so I know exactly what temp meat is as it’s cooking. Without having to take it out and check. It’s really difficult to overcook food when you know exactly what temp it is inside!
Are you a foodie, too?
Hey home chef, hope that answers all your questions about the Traeger Flatrock Grease Bucket.
Enjoy cooking and see you soon on Instagram / TikTok / YouTube.
