Try this smoked whole chicken with Italian marinade…
Ingredients
- 1 whole chicken
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 2 tablespoons blackened seasoning
Get tips for getting started with grilling….
1. Prep Chicken
Remove the whole chicken from its packaging. Rinse and pat dry with paper towels to help the seasoning stick.

2. Season
Drizzle 1 tablespoon of olive oil over the chicken. Rub the olive oil all over the chicken, making sure to get into the crevices like the wings and legs. Sprinkle on 1 tablespoon of blackened seasoning and rub it in thoroughly.

3. Preheat Smoker
Set Traeger Grill or whatever pellet smoker you are using to 250°F and allow it to preheat.
4. Smoke Chicken
Place the seasoned chicken directly on the grill grates. Smoke the chicken at 250°F for 1.5 hours.

5. Increase Temp
After 1.5 hours, increase the smoker temp to 350°F (or 375°F if you prefer extra crispy skin). Continue smoking the chicken until the internal temperature in the thickest part reaches 165°F.

6. Rest
