Homemade Oreo Frosting (Cookies and Cream Buttercream)
Video
Ingredients
- 8 Oreo cookies
- 1 ¼ cup salted butter softened (not room temperature)
- 3 cups powdered sugar
- 1 ½ tsp vanilla extract
- 4 tbsp heavy whipping cream
Instructions
- Crush the Oreo cookies into very fine crumbs using a food processor or blender. Set aside.
- In a mixing bowl, beat the softened butter until smooth and creamy. Gradually add the powdered sugar, mixing well after each addition, until light and fluffy.
- Mix in the vanilla extract and heavy whipping cream until fully combined and smooth. Fold in the Oreo crumbs until evenly distributed and the frosting is speckled throughout.
- Let the frosting sit at room temperature for a few minutes before using so it becomes easier to spread or pipe (it will firm up slightly if chilled). Spread generously over cakes or pipe onto cupcakes for a cookies-and-cream finish.
