FAQs
This is a real quick cook! You’ll need just 4 minutes grilling at 500 degrees F. Two minutes per side to achieve delicious looking grill marks.
You can cut a pineapple in a variety of ways for grilling. One way is to simply cut it in half, keeping the skin on and grilling it face down for a few minutes. If you do this, then you are only grilling one side of the pineapple.
If you want to cut the pineapple into a pineapple slice, then you want to first cut off the top and bottom of the pineapple. Next, you will trim off the exterior pineapple skin then cut in half down the middle, lengthwise. Place the pineapple down and cut into slice sizes of your choosing.
To make pineapple rings, first cut off the top and bottom of the pineapple. Next you’ll want to trim off the skin around the size of the pineapple. If you have a pineapple corer, then use that to remove the center core of the pineapple, then you can turn the pineapple on its side and slice into rings. If you do not have a corer, you can use a long thin knife to gently remove the pineapple core.
Grilled pineapple is an extremely versatile easy side dish and can be served with a variety of main dishes. Indoor grill pan chicken or regular grilled chicken and pineapple with smoked salsa is a pairing made in heaven. You can use grilled pineapple in a stir fry with some fried rice as another option. On the dessert side, simply top your grilled pineapple with vanilla ice cream and you’re good-to-go!
Personally, I’ll use any leftover for homemade pizza the next night. Below is a look at grilled pizza stone pizza. Leftover pineapple and BBQ chicken pizza go so well together…
Nope! I don’t find that pineapple sticks to grill grates when grilled at a super high temperature of about 500 degrees F. If you’re cooking at a lower temperature, like medium heat, that might be a different story. Then, I’d suggest you brush the pineapple with olive oil first.

Meat thermometer recommendations
Every home chef needs a reliable meat thermometer to cook food perfectly.
On Sip Bite Go, you’ll often see me using:
- Meater thermometer – a fancy wireless thermometer that connects to a phone app – gifted to me from a Traeger partnership.
- ThermoPro digital thermometer – which has a wire that connects the thermometer to a display box outside the oven/grill.
It’s like being psychic! The great thing about either of the thermometers above is that I don’t have to take the food out of the oven to know the temperature.
How to use ‘em… What I do is stick the digital thermometer in steak, pork, chicken, whatever… Then put the food in the oven, on the smoker, or grill.
While the meat cooks, it reads the temperature so I know exactly what temp meat is as it’s cooking. Without having to take it out and check. It’s really difficult to overcook food when you know exactly what temp it is inside!
